HHS Monthly Meeting 19:30 - Monday, Sept. 14th. 2015

A public lecture will be given by Professor Martin Lechowicz of McGill University entitled “History of the Hudson Landscape”.

The talk will address events of the last 15,000 years that have shaped the landscape in and around the village of Hudson, events that in turn have influenced the character of our village and will continue to do so for generations to come.

HHS Monthly Meeting 19:30 - Monday, May 11th. 2015

St-James Church Hall, 642 rue Main, Hudson, QC, J0P 1H0: Don Pidgeon, historian with the United Irish Societies, a former Griffentowner and one of the key players in the emergence of Griffentown as a "lieu de memoire" will be the guest speaker at the Hudson Historical.  He will speak of the people, places and events that made Griffentown such a special place.

Geraldine Moore, who heads up a great team of volunteers at the Hudson War Memorial Library Shop, will be giving a presentation about the history of this incredibly popular and much frequented thrift shop in Hudson.  If you have never seen the lineups on Saturday mornings….

HHS Monthly Meeting 19:30 - Monday, Mar 9th. 2015

The next meeting of the Hudson Historical Society will be held on Monday, March 9th at 7:30 PM in St. James Church hall.

Long-time resident and member of the HHS, Pat McCaffrey will be telling the story of one of Hudson's first French pioneer families, the Mallettes.  She will speak of the first Malet who arrived in New France in the 1600’s, to the coureurs de bois, the adventurers, the warriors and the farmers.

Hudson Players' PETER N. WILLIAMSON *see details, click 'Read more'   On Monday, February 9, 2015 at 19:30, the Hudson Historical Society will welcome Peter N. Williamson who will present a brief history of the Hudson Players Club.  Now in its 67th year of operation, the Club is believed to be the oldest continuing English language amateur theatre group in Quebec.  Peter and his wife Karen joined the HPC in 1967 when they arrived in Hudson after being active in amateur theatre in Belleville, Ont.
