Help us save Victoria Farm

HHS Monthly meeting & Speaker Mon 24 Sept@ 07:30 PM / Reunion mensuel et conferencier Lundi 24 sept@19:30

(texte francais suit) St-James Church, 642 Main, Hudson Qc.   Hope you all had a wonderful summer season. The Hudson Historical Society will be kicking off the 2018-2019 season with a very interesting talk by Mike Reid about the Camp Anderson Scout camp in Rigaud.

To continue with the history started at the end of last season with the presentation on Camp Ewing, this season's first session picks up with the same camp becoming the property of the Boy Scouts of Canada as Camp Anderson.

The evening will take a look at Scouting in general and Camp Anderson in particular with stories, memorabilia and a multimedia presentation that will put the property in context before its final a sale to become the Hudson Club.

As you will see, the camp’s history is intertwined as a coming of age tale for the presenter, Michael Reid. A twenty year resident of St-Lazare, Mike grew up in the West Island and worked at Camp Anderson for three seasons. As the Canoe Instructor, among many other things, he paddled, sailed and hiked the Hudson region, falling in love with it and promising himself as a 16 year old, that he would move out to the area in the future.

A media producer by trade, Mike has owned an audio/video production company called KEMEdia, since 1983.  His wife Barb and their three adult children continue to enjoy the Hudson /St-Lazare area year round.

Eglise St-James, 642 Main, Hudson Qc.
