The next meeting of the Hudson Historical Society will be held on Monday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. in St. James Church Hall. Satewas Harvey Gabriel, an Elder from Kenesatake will be the guest speaker. Elder Gabriel will speak about the long relationship his community has had with Como and Hudson and also about the history of his community.
Elder Gabriel has also put years of effort to keep the Mohawk language alive and after he graduated from the Summer Institute of Linguistics in Arizona, he proceeded to translate parts of the Bible into Mohawk and compiled a 15,000 word Mohawk-English dictionary. He is a member of the Kanesatake United Church and is a great collector of Native religious art and books.

La prochaine réunion de la Société historique de Hudson aura lieu lundi le 12 mai à 19h30 dans la sale principale de l'église St. James. Satewas Harvey Gabriel, un aîné de Kenesatake sera le conférencier invité. Ancien Gabriel parlera de la longue relation de sa communauté avec Como et Hudson et aussi sur l'histoire de sa communauté.
Ancien Gabriel a également mis des années d'efforts pour garder la langue des Mohawks vivante et suivant son diplôme de l'Institut Summer de linguistique en Arizona, il a procédé à traduire des portions de la Bible en mohawk et a compilé un dictionnaire Mohawk-Anglais contenant 15000 mots. Il est membre de l'Église United de Kanesatake et est un grand collectionneur d'art et de livres religieux autochtone.
